OCTOBER 1, 2024 DEFENDERS DAY
I wrote these words
to the people
who took the
streets
and defended
Ukraine's freedom
back then
during
the Revolution of Dignity.
There are heroes who
sacrifice themselves and fight
for
everything we hold dear.
Yanukovych's escape
with a suitcase full of
stolen
money
was also the starting shot
for the Russian invasion.
Anyone visiting Ukraine
should stop by
the Memorial
Wall.
It is the wall of heroes,
the Heavenly Brigade
of
defenders
who have paid the ultimate price
for Ukraine's
freedom.
At 8 AM Danish time,
I will hold a minute of
silence for
all the fallen.
It is also for you, the living,
sitting out in the
trenches
waiting
for new Russian attacks.
You are the
newest generation
of defenders of Ukraine's
existence.
But
do read
the history—
there are so many of you
who
have fought against
Russia's attempts to
wipe out Ukraine.
